Rookie girl group EXID is belatedly hitting the charts three months after its debut.

“UP & DOWN” has taken the 11th spot in the Melon chart as of Tuesday, climbing up in the rankings slowly over the months.

The five-member group released its first album in August and held official performances only for a month. But EXID’s popularity went unnoticed until now.

Entertainment sources suggest that the group’s sensual and addictive performance contributed to the song’s slow but steady rise up the charts.

The sexy hip dance has also attracted millions of online viewers.

EXID’s street promotion shows also supported the group’s rising popularity, the sources said.

The girl band has carried out free street shows in busy areas of Seoul, such as Hongdae, Dongdaemun and Myeong-dong.
