Choi In-ha, the character of actress Park Shin-hye, confessed to having a crush on her uncle Choi Dal-po in the latest episode of SBS’ romantic series “Pinocchio” that aired on Wednesday.

In the fifth episode, In-ha suggests it in a face-to-face talk with her same-aged uncle Dal-po. Played by actor Lee Jong-suk, Dal-po is the adopted son of In-ha’s grandfather. She simply calls him “uncle Dal-po,” although they are the same age.

In-ha has been tortured by her secret love for Dal-po, with continued strife to hide her love.

She has “Pinocchio complex,” a rare psychological symptom that drives her into violent hiccups whenever she tells a lie.

Facing Dal-po on the rooftop, In-ha asks him, “Do you have any idea when this crazy fit of hiccups began?” Then she finally declares, “It was when I first denied my mind on you. I love you.”

Dal-po was astounded at the niece’s confession, and mutters “It cannot be.”

In-ha asserts that she is telling the truth, pointing out that she is not having the hiccups.

But In-ha immediately asks Dal-po to forget what she said, to his sorrow. She tells Dal-po, “Please pretend that you never heard what I just said.”

Trying to appear confidant, she goes on, “I will get rid of this feeling every way I can. Let us forget what I said. And there will be no further troubles.”

Slowly, Dal-po looks into her eyes and asks what would happen if she fails to throw away her crush. In-ha says, with tremendous efforts to stay calm, she will be able to toss away the inappropriate crush, assuring that she is “not that into” him.

But she does not hear Dal-po, wistfully muttering to himself, “Good for you that you can do that. (I cannot forget my feelings for you.)”

With the girl’s confession, the romance between In-ha and Dal-po is expected to accelerate in the episodes to come.

“Pinocchio” is aired every Wednesday and Thursday at 10 p.m.
