TvN’s new rom-com “Valid Love” got off to a smooth start on Monday, thanks to the hilarious chemistry between its lead characters, played by actor Um Tae-woong and actress Lee Si-young.

Um plays Jang Hee-tae, a marine researcher who temporarily teaches biology at a girl’s high school. Lee plays Um’s wife, Kim Yil-lee, who was Jang’s student. After marriage, however, her heart is torn between two men -- her husband and her ex-boyfriend.

The first episode starts with Jang, who burns with jealousy when he sees his wife and her ex-boyfriend Kim Joon (Kim Soo-hyuk) hanging out together at night. Jang is even more outraged to see his wife and Kim Joon enter Kim’s house together.

Then comes Jang’s memory of his first encounter with his wife in a urology clinic, which he was visiting to receive a circumcision. Later, Jang is frightened to see the girl in his class, fearing that she may tell the class about the operation.

His wife is not afraid to love the clumsy biology teacher. She vows to protect him, and eventually falls for him. At first, Yil-lee’s eccentricity makes Jang feel confused and scared, but gradually he falls in love, too.

“Valid Love” is broadcast every Monday and Tuesday at 11 p.m.
