Rookie group Pure Boy called for the reunion of TVXQ during a rally in Myeong-dong, in downtown Seoul, on Monday.

According to local reports, the group held a picket saying, “We want to see TVXQ and JYJ performing together onstage just once.”

After being in Japan for months for performance, the rookie boy group realized how great TVXQ had been when its members were five in the past, according to its agency.

“I realized that our senior group TVXQ’s achievements in Japan were legendary,” Hyobin, a member of the rookie group, said.

“It’s a heartbreaking story that the group, which was great as national a treasure, had to be divided into two and have been active separately. It would be a wish of hundreds of millions of the fans in the world that the two groups will perform together onstage,” he added.

“I started to dream of becoming a singer, watching TVXQ’s performance when I was in elementary school in America,” said Hayoung, another member of Pure Boy who grew up in Los Angeles.

“The five-member TVXQ was the emperor of the K-pop scene and the best of the best groups,” he added.

According to local reports, the four members of the rookie boy group were picketing by turns for more than six hours in the subzero temperature.

However, the group faced criticism that it is a promotional gimmick ahead of the release of their new song, “When Snow Falls.”

Back in 2009, three of the five original TVXQ members -- Junsu, Jaejoong, Yuchun -- filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment to end their contract, alleging that their 13-year exclusive contract was unreasonably long.

The five-member group was divided into two units in 2010. Yunho and Changmin have been active as a duo while remaining in TVXQ. The other three members -- Junsu, Jaejoong, Yuchun -- have created JYJ. Both groups are still on top of the K-pop scene.
