Actress Park Min-young, the ex-girlfriend of hallyu star Lee Min-ho, snagged the Best Couple Award with her rom-com partner Ji Chang-wook in the drama category of the 2014 KBS Drama Awards on Wednesday.

Park and Ji, the hero and heroine of KBS’ action rom-com “Healer,” were recognized for their absorbing romantic chemistry and the drama’s popularity in Korea.

During her acceptance speech, Park said, “Ji and I are working together on a pretty chemistry. We ask for your support.”

Ji took over, saying, “It will get even prettier. Your support gets us going.”

In “Healer,” Ji played Seo Jeong-hoo, a private detective who is given a mysterious mission from a client to monitor Chae Young-sin (Park), an online news reporter at a low-level news agency, and report everything she does. Seo applies for a job at Chae’s company in disguise to accomplish the mission. But never does he think that he will fall for the charming news reporter.

The award excited fans around the world of Park and hallyu actor Lee Min-ho, the hero and heroine of KBS’ “City Hunter” in 2011. After costarring in the drama, their intimacy turned into love. But the two broke up after several months.

This year’s KDA featured five awards for best drama couples.

In addition to Ji and Park, the winning couples included Lee Joon-gi and Nam Sang-mi of period action-rom “Joseon’s Gunman,” Moon Jung-hyuk (Eric of first-generation boy band Sechs Kies) and Jung Yu-mi of rom-com “Discovery of Love,” Kim Sang-kyung and Kim Hyun-joo of “Why Are Families Being Like This” and ZE:A member Park Hyung-sik and Nam Ji-hyun, also of “Why Are Families Being Like This.”

Lee Joon-gi said he was exalted to the skies to win the Best Couple Award.

“This is the award that tempted me more than any other award. I take it as the highest recognition for all rom-com actors. I am satisfied,” he said.
