South Korean singer Kim Hyun-joong said on Monday that he was not sure if his ex-girlfriend, surnamed Choi, was pregnant. But it turned out on Tuesday that he actually knew.

“We are not denying that she is pregnant. Kim learned about it when Choi sent him sonograms of a fetus,” his agency KeyEast said on Tuesday afternoon.

It is a shame that it seems like Kim is denying Choi’s pregnancy, the label said.

“What we are saying is that Kim asked Choi to visit a hospital with him to check her and the baby’s condition, but she did not respond,” the agency added, explaining why Kim said that he could not confirm her pregnancy.

The label also repeated that the two are not at all considering getting married.

The remarks came after Choi confirmed earlier in the day that she was pregnant with Kim’s baby and refuted Kim’s claims that he did not know about the pregnancy and could not reach her.

“Choi is pregnant and she has solid evidence (medical records) to prove it,” said Choi’s legal representative.

The tit-for-tat brawl began after a local magazine, Woman Sense, reported on Sunday that Kim had reunited with Choi, who is now into her 11th week of pregnancy. The news came as a shock because the woman sued Kim for assaulting her last year.

On Monday, Kim said through a press release that he could not confirm her pregnancy because he could not reach her but would take full responsibility if she was found to be pregnant.

According to Kim, Choi contacted him first in early January to tell him she was pregnant. When Kim asked her to visit a hospital for a medical checkup, she turned him down, he said.

Choi filed a complaint against Kim in August 2014, accusing him of repeatedly beating her while they were romantically involved.

Kim initially denied the allegations, but apologized to Choi a month later.

In response, Choi dropped the charges. But the court ordered Kim to pay a fine of 5 million won ($4,600) in January.
