Whether Prince Lee Young would survive the feud or not was the subject of much gossip before the final episode of KBS 2TV’s “Moonlight Drawn by Clouds” aired Tuesday.

The prince, played by Park Bo-gum, made it, contrary to tragic life of Crown Prince Hyomyeong whom the series is based on.

The real-life crown prince died at the age of 20 after serving as regent for his father, King Sunjo for three years. Some historians suspect that the crown prince was murdered, as the prince, who was otherwise in good health, suddenly died while coughing up blood.

The ending scene of the 17th episode Monday was reminiscent of the historical story. Lee Young was intoxicated and struggled to breathe after drinking herbal medicine.

However, Lee Young recovered in the next episode and won the factional feud, as his political rivals were purged and Prime Minister Kim Heon committed suicide. Afterward, Prince Lee Young clinched the throne and met Hong Ra-on (Kim Yoo-jung) again.

The series that was aired for nine weeks ended with a 22.9 percent viewership share for the finale.
