BTS, EXO, IU win big at 2017 Melon Music Awards

BTS, EXO and IU swept prizes at the 2017 Melon Music Awards held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on Saturday.

BTS and EXO each took home five trophies.

BTS won song of the year with “Spring Day” from the repackaged version of its second studio album “Wings: You Never Walk Alone.”

The seven-piece group also received the global artist award, music video award for “DNA,” and the top 10 artists award. Its member Suga’s collaboration track with Suran, “Wine,” won the hot trend award.

Meanwhile, EXO won its third consecutive grand prize at Saturday’s event as it was named artist of the year. It also received the netizen popularity award, music style award for male dance (“Ko Ko Bop”), and top 10 artists award.

IU took the album of the year award with her fourth studio album “Palette,” alongside the best songwriter and top 10 artists awards.

Rookie K-pop band Wanna One also walked away with three awards: best new artist, Kakao hot star and top 10 artists.

Organized by LOEN Entertainment through its online music store Melon, the MMA is one of the major annual music awards in Korea.
