Pristin’s first sub-unit Pristin V debuted as five villains whispering “Do whatever you want” into one’s ears.

Consisting of Nayoung, Kyulkyung, Roa, Eunwoo and Rena, the five-member unit debuted with energy-driven single “Get It,” a lead track off its first EP “Like a V,” on Monday.

“If we were like cheerful young students, we sought changes in our image as charismatic and powerful women,” said Eunwoo during a showcase for the band’s “Live a V” EP in Seoul.

The R&B pop track boasts energetic synth beats and a powerful vibe, veering away from Pristin’s previous bubblegum sonic tune. The song throws a message of “freedom,” as the members transform into sweet villains who encourage listeners to “do whatever you want.” Their stage outfits, mostly hued in red, black and white, seemed to fall in line with the unit’s dark and charismatic concept.

Letter V from the album title also represented “Villain,” the members said.

The five ladies explained they have been chosen as the unit members according to their care-free images.

“Each of us are different villains. For me, I became a naughty villain after meeting other villain friends,” Eunwoo said. Kyulkyung also explained her character as an inborn villain who naturally oozes a dark vibe.

Ten-piece girl group Pristin, consisting of former members of now-defunct project girl group I.O.I, debuted in March last year with its first EP “Hi! Pristin.” The band received a rookie award last year at Asia Artist Award and the Best Female Artist Award at Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Roa talked about bigger ambitions, saying, “We would like to receive a main prize from an award.

The two-track “Like a V” also includes “Spotlight,” a deep-house track that boasts rhythmical base line.
