‘EXO Arcade’ unveiled

K-pop group EXO premiered the first episode of its much-anticipated “EXO Arcade,” a V Live game show starring the act’s eight members, on Thursday.

Titled “(We’ll) Show You EXO ? EXO Arcade,” the program takes its name and theme from the classic Korean game variety show “Family Arcade,” which aired from 1984-2009 on KBS TV. Members of EXO play old-fashioned games like “mini car parking lot escape,” “silent shouting,” and “chair curling.”

The first episode, released via the act’s official V Live channel, features members playing the tongue twister game in what the host Lee Su-geun called the warm-up round.

The first four who successfully read out the lines without a mistake -- Xiumin, Baekhyun, Chen and Chanyeol -- formed team A while the rest made up team B.

The clip ends with the host declaring, “Now we start the EXO Arcade in earnest!”

The next episode will air Saturday.

S.M. Entertainment said earlier that the show will air its five episodes on Dec. 27, 29, 31, Jan. 3 and 5.

Backstage with Momoland at KPMA

K-pop girl group Momoland released a behind-the-scenes video from the first Korea Popular Music Awards, held on Dec. 20.

The clip, uploaded to Momoland’s official V Live channel on Friday, starts with Yeonwoo, one of the group’s nine members, getting her hair fixed by staff in the backstage area.

It also captures other members preparing or just passing the time before going onstage.

“We will show up from beneath the stage using a lift. We have to bend like this because there is not much space in the lift,” Yeonwoo said right before going onstage.

The clip ends with the group thanking fans for the honor they received that day.

“At the very first KPMA, we received Bonsang (the main award). It’s all thanks to you,” Hyebin said.

Momoland was among the 11 K-pop acts chosen for the honor at the KPMA.

“I had the honor of recording the Korean version of ‘In This Place,’ which is the end-credits song,” she said.

Adding that her song is only on the Korean-dubbed movie, the singer asked viewers to go for both subtitled and dubbed versions, saying the film is worth watching twice.

The animated sequel to 2012’s “Wreck-It Ralph” opens at local theaters on Thursday.
