K-pop girl group EXID’s “Up & Down” topped music chart Mnet thanks to its belated popularity, according to the chart on Thursday. The song also ranked No. 5 on Daum Music and Naver Music and No. 4 on Melon.

The group’s third single was released in August, but it went viral after the girls’ concert at a military camp was uploaded to their Facebook page in October. Thanks to its soaring popularity, recently it even appeared on TV music programs again after 3 months.

“I heard from my friends that our group’s videos or photos often appeared on SNS. And I thought at first, we will soon fall in popularity,” the group member Hani said.

“I didn’t even imagine it (their popularity on SNS) would lead us to high places on music charts,” she added, as if she were dreaming.

“We’d thought over (how) to make the choreography of the song appealing but not excessively sexy,” Junghwa, another member, said.

“Since we haven’t been popular, many people consider us to be rookies. However, at least we made a big name for ourselves for now. And it is more important to focus on our activities in the future,” the 3-year-girl group said.
