Director Lee Joon-ik’s forthcoming period movie “The Throne” has been adapted as a pair of novels, “Sado -- The memory of father and son” and “The Discarded Prince, Sado,” distributor Showbox said Tuesday. The books took a year to complete, to coincide with original movie’s release on Wednesday. Professor of psychology at Seoul National University, Kwak Geum-joo and certified psychiatrist Kim Hyun-chul worked together with author Jo Eun-ho on “Sado -- The memory of father and son.” Production notes by the original film’s scriptwriters will be included in the book.Across the front cover stands a stony-faced Yeongjo (Song Kang-ho) and a disheveled Sado (Yoo Ah-in), with words beneath them reading, “All I wanted from you, father, was one kind word.” As for the other book “The discarded prince, Sado,” star Korean history instructor, Seol Min-seok helps untangle the love-hate relationship between King Yeongjo and his disowned son Sado. Preorders of the books are currently available online. By Lim Jeong-yeo ()Related article: Yoo Ah-in on ‘The Throne,’ forthcoming enlistment
