Solji of South Korean girl group EXID is to take a temporary hiatus due to her health, the vocalist's agency said Wednesday. The singer, who had lately experienced fever and exophthalmos (bulging eyes), was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism after a thorough health screening, according to Banana Culture Entertainment. The condition is caused by excessive production of thyroid hormone. Its symptoms include weight loss, fatigue, irregular heartbeat and insomnia. "We've had a long talk with Solji and decided that her health and happiness are the top priority," the management company said. "She will rest for the time being and focus on receiving treatment," it added. For this reason, the remaining four members -- LE, Hani, Hyelin and Junghwa -- will attend year-end award ceremonies without their team leader. That same day, the singer apologized to fans for shocking them via SNS and reassured them she would return to good health soon.
